Before you travel to Morocco
Passport
Check your passport before booking your trip. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and in good condition when you enter Morocco.
Travel Insurance
We recommend that you get travel insurance. In case of cancellation for any reason (illness, force majeure, etc.) we won’t refund your booking.
Climate
Taghazout, located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, typically experiences a mild Mediterranean climate. Summers are warm and dry, with temperatures averaging around 25-30°C (77-86°F) during the day. Winters are mild and wet, with temperatures averaging around 15-20°C (59-68°F). Taghazout benefits from the moderating influence of the Atlantic Ocean, which helps keep temperatures relatively stable throughout the year. However, like much of Morocco, there can be variations in climate depending on the specific time of year and prevailing weather patterns.
Changing Money
Money is easy to exchange in the area. In Taghazout/ Tamraght there are now also a number of ATM and exchange offices where you can easily get cash.
Swimming / Surfing
Taghazout borders on the Atlantic Ocean. The water temperature is between 18 – 29°C all year round, which makes it possible to surf in board shorts or a bikini. From November until March, the water can be cooler.
Time Zone
Morocco Standard Time (MST) is the time zone used in Morocco. It is UTC+1 during standard time and UTC+0 during daylight saving time, which is not observed in Morocco.
Internet
There is free WiFi at Dar Maripsoa. But yes, it may not work. We’re still on an island. If you need reliable internet, we recommend you buy a local SIM card (orange or maroc telecom) and an internet package for your phone. SIM -you can buy the cards at many places in Taghazout and they only cost a few euros!
LANGUAGE
Arabic is the official language in Morocco. The people of Morocco (the Amazigh) also speak their own local language ‘Darija or berber’ and people who come into contact with tourists usually speak English or French. Our managers speak fluent English.
Currency
The national currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD):
1 MAD = approx. 0.091 1 Euro = approx. 10.91 MAD
Animals
Morocco is an country with a lot of nature. This also applies to the animals. Fortunately, most of them aren’t poisonous.
You can expect to see dogs, cats, turtles, camels, goats,... .
